ENPAA responds to consultation on the National Parks and Broads Circular and Vision Statement

The English National Parks and the Broads Circular provides policy guidance for all those whose decisions or actions might affect the English National Parks and the Broads. It brings together Government policy on National Parks across the full range of National Parks issues and National Park Authority activities. The Circular provides guidance for, amongst others, government departments, government agencies, local authorities and public bodies of various kinds.
ENPAA submitted a response to the consultation on February 3 2010. While we welcomed much of the consultation document ENPAA’s response to the consultation focuses on some key areas for improvement including:
- reflecting a balance between the two core purposes of National Parks
- a better description of the role of other organisations in delivering National Park purposes
- aligning the priorities for National Parks with the Vision
- improving the sections on Planning, Sustainable Transport and Rural Economies
- adding sections on community engagement, social inclusion and farming and food security
The full text of the consultation document and further information can be found on Defra’s website. The closing date for responses was Friday, 5 February 2010.
